We had such a great weekend together with DF that the rainy weather makes me almost happy just for making the memory of the weekend even more idillyc.
It was all perfect Sunday was the 2 year anniversary of the day we officially decide that we were together, the weather was sunny and pleasant all weekend and DF asked to get Saturday evening off , so for once we had the entire two days to spend togther. We did the classic Paris chilled weekend wak eround St.Germain, passed by my old University's World's Fair (completely out of control but amusing)iced tea at the Jardin du Palais Royal, drinks with friends at the bar where we met, and romantic dinner after just a few steps away at Maceo.

All we did yesterday was walk to the Parc, rite by us and sit in the sun, read magazines and books all day, pure bliss.( Pics of Parc de Buttes Chaumont a few steps away from us)

Work at the moment is quite tedious, busy all day, yet horribly boring at the same time, and I'm trying to do a bit of overtime as two lots of my favourite people are coming to Paris this weekend , our mutual married friends from London, the most fabulous couple I know and completely adorable and one of my best uni girlfriend from the Philippines. I wish I wouldn't have to work at all and could just spend all my time socializing but hey, a girl gotta work for her Louboutins!

SOOOO tired.Maybe going to a Jazz club with friends on a Tuesday night wasn't such a good idea, but it was fun so worth the zoned out mess I was at work today.DF even came to the Jazz place after work and we went home together so that was lovely.Today the plan was coming home, making myself a salad and for once actually taking the time to draw a bubble bath, but so far I checked all my favourite websites and have been on the phone for an hour with one of my best friends back home chatting about her scandalous life while eating cake. Not exactly what I envisioned but also fun.

Lately I've ben thinking about something fun we could add to our wedding, like a fun midnight snack idea or some kind of show or something Hungarian, but so many things seem just either tacky or boring.I dunno need more inspiration. So far my ideas are a candy bar, bringing out a popcorn cart in the courtyard where the dancing will be, or some Hungarian gypsies. But my ideas are just not where they should be yet.

Can't wait to go to Hungary in June and maybe interview one or two more wedding planners before I make up my mind, maybe they'll have some interesting ideas.I already have one on backup but can't completely make up my mind to hire her yet.Anyway that decision can wait till August. But we already ordered our Save The Dates, hope they turn out well, and arrive well, as we ordered them in the States on www.finestationary.com and have a friend bring them to Europe.I was thinking of including the imge here, but kinda want to keep it a surprise for now.

Wedding Obsession Continues...

Today after lunch with DF in a Brasserie at Odeon he went off to work and I decided to look for some sensible ballerinas ,in a colour that would match all my stuff , aka gold. And I looked and looked and looked ... but either they didn't have it in my size or I couldnt bring myself to spend more than 50 on flats. So I decided to pop into the LV store at St Germain to see if I could afford a little black bag for my mummy's Birthday. Than did something stupid, went to the Assouline shop got completely sidetracked and bought yet another coffe table book on weddings. DF will be annoyed and I know I could have just bought a wedding magazine instead but its soooo pretty and cool.Kinda like a beautiful hardcover version of wedding Vogue.(if such a thing would exist.)

I also found the perfect gift for all my girlfriends that are amazing hostesses and love to throw parties.I have two in mind already, just have to wait for the occasion. And another book, that I'll buy myself at some other time written by Lee Radziwill, Jackie O.'s sister.I saw her once at a fashion show and she must be in her 70s but so beautifully preserved and the epitome of classyness and elegance.Spoke to her on the phone once too, back when I worked in fashion PR, she was quite charming.

Though I haven't scored any clothes today at least I'm having a fun evening looking through "Weddings Of Style" , and getting inspired.I pity my future wedding planner already , so does DF :-) .

So happy its the weekend, but in a good mood generally, I spoke to A. the photographer yesterday, and as far as I can tell from a ten minute conversation he seems like a great guy and a person I would like to have at my wedding. And what's most important, I completely agree with what he said about the way he thinks about wedding photography.

Then for dinner I met up with my Philippina friends and it turned into a very fun girls night out.Nothing crazy, just Japanese dinner then went for drinks at the bar of Drouant, such a stunning restaurant. All in cream, gold and dark wood,(I'm thinking of asking DF to take me there for our 2nd anniversary dinner) and my friends flatmate works there so the bartenders were really friendly, though that might have had something to do with the fact that we were four cute girl. All in all a very Sex & the City night, except for the fact that we weren't exactly on the hunt for men.

Today after work I finally checked out the bookshop DF kept telling me about.I usally prefer WHSmith on Rivoli , it has the best magazine selection and is so comfy. I still remember how one of my friends and me spent an entire afternoon just siting on the floor hording all kinds of books together and leafing through them.
But no matter how much I love'em I think their books are way overpriced and just ordering on amazon doesnt give me the same satisfaction.I love browsing in bookstores, so today was fun.DF was right, I bought five books for 25 eur. The shop is right by St Michel, and called Gibert Jeune, I missed the magazines and comfyness of WHSmith, but it has a good selection and great prices, plus I got a book for every occasion.A new Allende book cause I've been craving her colourful writing, then Auster for when I'm in the mood for some American melancholy, Stephen Fry for his british zest and because I know DF will enjoy it, and a chick lit book as guilty in-the-morning-on-the-metro reading pleasure.Plus for my most Barby-sque girlfriend back home I couldn't pass up Confessions of an Heiress by Paris Hilton, for 5 euro, its hilarious and I know she will love it.

So here is my reading list :
Isabel Allende : Ines Of My Soul,
Stephen Fry : The Liar
Tane Green: Babyville
Paul Auster : The New York Trilogy.........and well the Paris Hilton one.

But I wish I had the money to just send a copy of J.R. Moehringer's The Tender Bar to all my friends, its my absolute favourite, so beautiful and well written.Plus it's the perfect preent for all kinds of guys, fiancee, guyfriend, ex-lover, stepfather, I think they'd all enjoy it.

Helmie

Not a hard guess that I love Helmut Newton, but the great thing is that besides his cool work, he was this funny guy and his sense of humour comes through both in his photography and in his writing.Loved his Autobiography and had a phase when I was obsessed with his pictures and bought all his books. Was just leafing through them and thought I'd share. The composition is avesome , his wife, June Newton two naked models and himself in the same pic! Oh and shhoting himself in heels, gotta love the guy and not just cause he's got great legs.

Picked up my check for the interim job I was doing last month and am pretty excited as it's a bit more than expected.Of course with both my mum's and DF's birthday's coming up I have to be careful , but kinda feel like celebrating anyway.I thought I'd take DF out for a change , I mean he's great with taking me to restaurants both fancy and down home, but even so there are a few places that I love or am sentimental about and he thinks is a ridiculous waste of money.Case in point Mariage Freres' high tea,Cafe at Angelina, Plaza Athenee or Cafe Flore. All of those he refuses to do, and I, despite the cheeziness and tourists adore. But if the weather stays as lovely as now maybe I can lure him to the Flore or les deux magots, we could have lunch on the terrace next Saturday and then buy some macaroons at Laduree and go eat them in the parc.Ah when work is boring it's nice to dream about spending the money one earns :-)

First day at new work today. It all was much better than expected, seems like I might have found a French company where people are actually NICE!Crazy I know.It might have something to do with the fact that I no longer work in fashion PR surrounded by aging bitchy queeens. No, instead apparently I will be surrounded by pregnant women (I counted 5 in the company today.)Let's just say I hope I won't catch that bug. Work will be boring but money's fine,at least for Paris, not exactly famous for fabulous pay, which is me yet another reason to consider moving to London.

But speaking of pay, I have a new reason for saving up as much as possible.Well as I wrote before my mommy is going to pay for most of the wedding and DF for honeymoon, wine and a few other stuff. And he graciously told me that since it was me who was obsessed with the photography bit and planning on flying someone in, thus raising costs ridiculously , it could be me who paid for the photographer. YEAY, how sweet of him, though must admit he has a point.

But now to the news. Yesterday when I was perusing my fave wedding blog stylemepretty.com, I saw this post :
" Andreas is offering photography services to SIX couples over the next year for a special book project. Destination weddings typically start at around $10000 but Andreas is offering this package to six couples for just the cost of two return airfares and accommodations."

So I answered it and Andreas Avdoulos, the photographer has gotten back to us, nothing is signed yet, but I'd be thrilled if it would work out.I looked through his portfolio on his website ( http://andreasphoto.ca/main.php )and its exactly the style I wanted, the images are beautifully constructed, just stunning.
Of course that doesn't mean I won't have to save up for the airfare hotel and per diem which will still come up to about 2000 eur (about 4 times as much as the most expensive Hungarian photographer)but the package an quality we'd get for it would make it worth it.

I've got a new dilemma, and it's quite annoying as I had a feeling it might happen. So I have the deadline to accept my second choice job offer on Monday.I like the offer just fine , but the job is a 6 month contract only, and in a transport company , which is as far from my ambitions as it gets. Now my first choice company called me today whether I could come in for an interview next monday.Of course I'd rather have that job but, havig the interview on Monday means that by the time they decide whether they'd offer it to me at all, I would have lost my other chance. Its a bit of a gamble.
My other possibility is to say yes to the offer I already have , then go to the interview, and if they were to offer it to me I could still leave transport company to take it.Not exactly morally great, but legally possible during the trial period. If I say yes to one I'd like to stand to my word, bu the other company is in many ways better for me , closer more prestigious and the contract would be for unlimited time.I think I will have to play my cards right, I want to end up with my preferred job , but not end up without any job at all.

Apart from that, still enjoying my last days of free time.DF was had the day off yesterday , we cleaned (after my freakout last wek he's much better at helping)then did errands, bought about 5 dvds and had a cosy nite in , instead of being social and meeting friends for drinks.Whatever I think we need those too once in a while. And he cooked great chili con carne and I finally managed to bake the corn bread I craved for so long.So that was it we just chilled ,eat and watched 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' and 'The Illusionist':-)

We were also thinking whether there is any way we could add a Beagle puppy to our gift list. We'd really like to get one after the wedding, and it would be the perfect present but I really doupt any of the gift list services offer a puppy to order.Such a pity if one can register for honeymoons and paintings why not pets.Would make sense I think

I have been horribly neglective of my blog for the past few days and will make up for it now.Partly I didn't write because the job interviews and waiting for an outcome situation didn't let me.So it's official I have two job offers and have to decide in the next few days which one to take. Im only a bit sad, my number one choice is only coming along slowly and I'm afraid that I will take another one just by default if things there don't speed up. One of the jobs offered is way too far out of the city and the money they offer for what is pretty much a ten hour a day job is not impressive to say the least. So it looks like I will take my second choice. The positives are that the pay is fine and lets me save a bit each month,it's still far (about an hour each way)but not nearly as bad as the other , and the team seems nice and international, plus they work on flexi-time (meaning I have a set amount of hours a week to work but I can decide how I make them work, which means I won't have to get up at 6 if im willing to work a bit longer in the afternoon).Of course nothing is set yet, and I haven't given up hope on the other job , that is in Paris and with a company I like. Just hope my agent gets it together this week. But if all works out well I will be working by the end of next week.

Which brings me to today and the weekend , I feel like I'm savouring my last days of freedom , so quite a few fun things happened.Last Saturday DF took me to Sephora, we had a 20% discount with our Sephora card and said the magic words:"Honey whatever you need for the next few months just buy it now!"So I shopped...and shopped...and shopped.Poor DF didn't know that you dont utter those words to a beauty product junkey ;-)and got the bill. But I was so happy he didnt say much.Of course I will have to pay him back a bit otherwise it would have been just a bit too much for him to bear. I got two perfumes, one day;Daisy by Marc Jacobs and one evening; the new Gucci, lots of Clinique skin care which I always use, I.D.Bare Minerals foundation instead of my usual MAC because everybody is raving about it, a heated lash curler and I think more but I can' remember. Then we went to the Fumoir to meet with a friend.

Yesterday J. my friend from high-school and future bridesmaid was in town from London and we went to a tapas bar in rue Mouffetard with her and her sista (who lives here) and friends. It was lovely seeing her, so funny how its mostly my high-school friendships that have stayed strong. It was fun as always and as she is the one who would be bringing the silk for the bridesmaids dresses from India I implored her to not forget.I so hope she will be able to, otherwise I dont know how to do it. I want my bridesmaid to match but don't want to buy them all the same dress, so I thought my idea with the fabric would be great but who knows.

Today I went to my special museum: Le Bon Marche, also known as Mekka..where I belong. Its my favourite department store, much more so than Galerie Lafayette beacause its less touristy and calmer especially on weekdays its a completely soothing experience.DF thinks I'm crazy, he gets depressed if he's goin to LBM without shopping but I love it.It has to do with the way I shop though, I always look first then sleep on it , then go back and get it if I still think of it the next day.And I saw many many lovely things today. The perfect camel leather jacket for example(960eur from JOSEPH)a birthday gift for mommy (lil black leather bag+Tiffany ring)possible wedding shoes from DIOR...and so much more. But came home happy despite not having bought anything.Except a bag of Kettle chips at the Grand Epicerie, hmmm so good!
Sorry this was a long one.

Completely exhilarating day.Had three interviews, one at 10:00am another at 14:00 and another again at 17:30, all of them lasted about an hour, were in completely different parts of the city, and two of them in FRENCH!But all is OK and I think I did pretty well, though don't want to JINX it by getting my hopes up.I know which one of the three jobs I am interviewing for I want, but it would be oh so too perfect to get it.The nice bit was after running around all day on my way home from my last interview I saw this guy on the metro who looked completely lik Patrick Dempsey aka McDreamy from Grey's! Very yummy! So I came home made myself a fruit salad gave myself a pedicure and started rewatching the 1st season of Grey's Anatomy.
That 1st season kicks ass, seriously...no seriously.(:-) inside joke)Somehow all the actors look better in the 1st , and the music is awesome, liked the old trailer more too.Anyway I had fun rewatching it.Especially since its perfect to take my mind off the job situation.

Oh also stopped by Tiffany's today, had to get DF's moneyclip polished and fell in love withh a ring.I plan on buying it myself once the wedding madness is over, its the perfect 'I'm rewaring myself present'.(pic from tiffany.com)

DF was sweet yesterday,it was his free day so after I was done with my appointments I thought it would be nice to go see The Other Boleyn Girl, but it was sunny and h convinced me to just go have a stroll in the city and then go for Fondue. To be honest after I was so frustrated with him for a couple a days I thought us goin to a movie miht just help not have a fight. But we had a drink in the Marais, bitching about the passing people together and bonded again.(always a great collection of eccentrics around Les Philosophes) And it was great to have dinner together, kinda felt like a date in the early days again. So all is good. Now if onlyI got the JOB.
OK goin back to Grey's for now.Just till DF gets back and takes the PC from me.

Just ate a big plate of good ol'German meat n potatoes followed by an entire rice pudding.BAD IDEA!Just as bad an idea as eating a full-on diet lunch followed by bingeing at dinnner. Oh well.. moving on.

Apparently weddings are in the air, I am soo excited for my friend's wedding in August, and she just sent me pictures of her top two dress choices, just wish I could be back there and go dress shopping with her.I love both dresses they completely reflect her kooky playful sense of style but manage to be completely elegant. One of the dresses has flower appliques the other little dots. (I tried adding the pictures but it just didn't work out) I vote for the flower one, I mean her name is Flower-it would be so perfect!
http://www.vanessa.hu/alap.htm is the link if anybody is interested. The dress above is just one of the dresses I happen to like.

The other wedding is slightly less personal.Besides me checking out people.com this morning and learning of the crucial world event that is Beyonce & Jay-Z applying for a marriage licence. One of my favourite bloggers of www.lapetiteanglaise.com fame is apparently also tying the knot. Its weird thinkig that more than two years ago when I was just applying to UNI here in P. I used to read her blog about her life in Paris trying to figure out how I would like it.And now I live here myself, in the same quartier as her no less,(though by pure accident I sooo prefer the slightly posher 5th) and am engaged! the woman's got a book out and moved on from her than life partner to a new guy she is about to marry. Life's funny.

Apart from my musings about weddings I got four (4!) interviews coming up in the next two days, and my DF to deal with.He has not only been moody over the last week but we got some household issues I am desperate to resolve. I've been picking up after him and doing most of the upkeep on the apartment and its starting to bug me.Nevermind the fact that when we decided to move in together my one request was for a cleaning lady to come once a week.Well I had a reason DF seems to be completely oblvious to dirt, mess etc., and immune to training in the area, which is starting to drive me mad.So our 1st purchase if I start a job will be a new cleaning lady.
Fingers crossed for the interviews!
